I live in Hyde Park. Will I be able to get to my house?

Special consideration is given to all road closures so the residents have some form of accessibility to their homes. Homes along the event courses may not have direct access. These limitations are required to ensure safety for the participants.

I live near the event and plan on hosting a party.

Please share the road closure information with your guests so they can plan accordingly. Click here to see road closures. They may want to carpool or plan on arriving early enough for any possible delays. Also, please be aware that races are continually going on throughout the day so use caution when crossing roads.

How will residents be handled when trying to get to their homes by car?

All through traffic will be directed around the area to minimize the congestion for residents and event participants. Personnel will be stationed at strategic locations to answer questions and aide residents and participants with traffic related questions.

How do I get to one of the stores in the Hyde Park Square Area?

While there will not be meter parking spots available in the square during the entire day, we do encourage you to park in one of the public lots on Edwards (behind Arthur’s and behind US Bank across from Hyde Park school). All of our friends at the Hyde Park Square Business Association will be open during the day! Please don’t forget to bring your wallets and help us support the local businesses who help us fight cancer! Representatives of the Hyde Park Square Business Association and the Blast will be located around the event and at detours to help direct you to a parking spot and answer any questions regarding parking for customers and event participants.

Where can participants and spectators to park?

Parking in and near the event on side street will be difficult. Participants and spectators are encouraged to park in areas east of the event near Withrow High School and walk to the event. Additional parking will be provided in the merchants lots on the south side of the business district. Residential areas to the north of the square and south of Wasson will have stationed volunteers and traffic control barriers. Access will be restricted to residents in order to control through traffic congestion and parking bottlenecks on side streets.
